The Answer
Probably very few others will have this problem, since in my case the answer was that I was using an older version of Drupal. I upgraded, and now my screens look just like the ones in the book.

No, there will be a button on
No, there will be a button on the Web page at the bottom of the "Create Story" page labeled "Save." I actually took all the screenshots from a Mac and developed the site on one, but Drupal interface elements are the same whether you are on a Mac or PC. Does that make sense?
Yes, that makes perfect sense
Yes, that makes perfect sense . . . and yet, my Create Story page shows only two button choices at the bottom: Preview and Submit. I wonder if this may be because I've already set up my own themes, not the exact ones the book is using. Maybe?
Anyway, when I click Submit it does exactly what the book says it will do when clicking Save.
So I think it's not you, it's me.
